De Soto Farmers' Market Cookbook

All the recipes that we collected last year are presented in a lovely cookbook. Cookbooks can be ordered or can be purchased at the market for $15. To order your cookbook, please send us an email at buyfreshlocal@gmail.com and let us know how many you would like. Below is a photo of what the cover of the cookbook looks like. We all think it is very lovely!

Cookbooks!

The cookbooks will be available at the Dinner and a Show this Friday night. The proof looks lovely, and we've been assured that the printing will be complete in time for the show.

The cookbooks will be on sale for $12 on Friday, but we only have about 50 of them. The rest will be printed and shipped later. We expect them to go like hotcakes, so try to nab one.

If you haven't purchased tickets for the Dinner and a Show, you can still purchase them at the door. The cost is $25 and the event starts at 6:30 PM. I know there are several items to be auctioned off (and I'll be just heart broken if the truffles I made to accompany some wine and a lovely basket don't go for top dollar!).

Still Calling for Recipes

We're still accepting recipes for the De Soto Farmers' Market Cookbook. Please bring them with you to the market on Saturday and turn them in at the Market Master booth. If you can't make it on Saturday, you can submit them electronically by emailing them to carrie.weatherholt@jeffcohealth.org or by submitting them through our Facebook page (search De Soto Farmers' Market.)

We're looking for all sorts of recipes, including those that are kid-friendly, so start writing them down or typing them out! We are anxiously awaiting your best recipes.

De Soto Farmers' Market Cookbook

It's time to dust off your mother's recipe box and dig through your old home economics book that you kept but can't remember just why.

The De Soto Farmers' Market is planning to put together a cookbook this year, and we want you to submit recipes of all sorts for consideration. We will most likely begin accepting recipes in April and May; maybe even later this month. The details about submission haven't been ironed out yet, but we will let you know as soon as details are available. Most likely, we will be looking for healthy recipes that include some of the produce that can be purchased at the market and other fruits and vegetables. (I've got a great recipe for mashed sweet potatoes that is fabulous.)

Of course, until the final submission details are worked out, we'll just pretend we're in NASCAR with a yellow flag. We'll do laps around our kitchens gathering up good recipes until the pace car leaves the track and the green flag emerges. And for the non-NASCAR fans, please forgive the ridiculous analogy.

Gather your recipes.

(Note: Swerving through your kitchen to "keep your tires warm" may not be acceptable in some households.)
